Integration means building capacity in your nervous system for the change you’ve experienced — or desire to experience. We’ll discuss the key elements of integration and begin to create a timeline for the event you intend integrate.

There are many creative ways to process an experience. Some of the most common ways include writing, visual art, movement, and dance. Borrowing a few tools from Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, we’ll begin to understand the event however it begins to emerge.

This week we’ll explore the anatomy of the nervous system, its many dysregulated states (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) and how to metabolize events that need to be processed or corrected. What happened in childhood will naturally inform your vagal tone and inform how you move through future experiences!

The healing process is not just internal — it impacts the way we show up to all of our relationships! Using some foundational tools from Internal Family Systems, Parts Work, and Attachment Theory, we’ll begin to understand how past life experience informs how we continue to make meaning of our lives.

So much of our work in processing a big life event is releasing — whether it’s the life we had before, the person we used to be, or what we thought the outcome would look like. Releasing our expectations allows us to make room for what is and is an important part of creating space for that which comes next.

We’ve spent the last six weeks developing a new understanding of ourselves in the context of a life-changing experience. By this time, you know the lessons you’re willing to take forward, and the aspects you’re ready to leave behind. The way you tell your story matters — it becomes the lens through which you interpret what happens next. So how will you convey your experience?
